THE DISCOUNT MODEL
Discounting, when done correctly, gets you cash-flow, momentum, shoppers & customers and inventory turnover and can have different faces.
A discount retail model, category killer and/or cost killer is a retailer that specializes in and carries a deep product assortment within a given category and through selection, pricing and market penetration obtains a massive competitive advantage over other retailers. By supplying a wide assortment in a single category for lower prices a category killer retailer can -kill- that category for other retailers.
A no-frills service or product is one for which the non-essential features have been removed to keep the price low. No-frills businesses operate on the principle that by removing luxurious additions, customers may be offered lower prices.
Every day low price (EDLP) is a pricing strategy promising consumers a low price without the need to wait for sale price events or comparison shopping. EDLP saves retail stores the effort and expense needed to mark down prices in the store during sale events, and is also believed to generate shopper loyalty.

However, sometimes and after visiting our website, some individuals like to share their ideas with us, the majority of which we have and/or might have already considered previously, thus please make sure you are happy with our below simple policy of submitting new ideas prior to contacting us.
Our ideas submitting simple policy:
(1) we appreciate people who are willing to talk about retail and consumer ideas but are prepared "not" to sign any form of non disclosure or confidentiality agreement.
(2) we are not obliged to offer any job, equity or any other form of reward in any company that is formed as a result of either an idea submission or any subsequent contact between us and the submitter.
If you nonetheless do so, then your submission of the idea to us will be taken as your agreement to immediately grant us an irrevocable, permanent, worldwide license to make use of the idea for any purpose we deem appropriate and in due course.

THE STORY OF OUR NAME
SKOONT, a 1 syllab word is derived from the English word "discount" which is the base of our venture, our ideas and our concepts. While in French the word "discount" is pronounced as "deess-koont" - and as our main experience in this sector comes from the so-called "La Grande Distribution" in France in all its shapes & formats and having had the chance and honor to work under the supervision of a retail Guru, whom day-after-day, made us fall in love with this daily evolving industry ... thus the name of our venture was born.
The red star in our logo symbolizes the East European Block during the cold war as that part of the world - and without limitations - is our starting point to launch our concepts.
The scarification at the end of some of the letters in our name falls at the intersection of the missing star point and goes exactly in parallel with the star as our plan is to keep looking up and moving forward while searching and developing more ideas and exploring more markets to enhance our growth while keep walking side-by-side with the stars all over the Milky Way.
THE MYTH OF RETAIL APOCALYPSE
We are obsessed in building retail & consumer companies, and one of our key roles is to look into new ideas and concepts where the focuses are on the initiation, development and implementation of all new retail consumer facing and oriented ventures.
The bottom line is, there is no need to let the much rumored "retail apocalypse" defy our minds and end up in the statistics of closing stores. Brick & Mortar retail is here to stay, as long as we make sure that the shopper & customer are at the center of everything we do.
The only trouble with these stories is … they’re nonsense. They serve to frighten the industry and allow retail observers to pontificate endlessly. There are thousands of retail stores opening, retailers are making long overdue investments in people and they are working to bring experiences back into their doors
The stores that are opening are creating differentiation, assortment, and a new marketing, pricing and promotion perspective. Retail isn’t reeling. It’s changing.
